Students in Berkeley County take the Reading Inventory and Math Inventory several times a year to monitor their reading and math growth, and to identify a student's need for intervention or enrichment. The Reading Inventory provides a Lexile measure for the student and the Math Inventory provides a Quantile measure for the student. These measures can be used to gauge how the student is performing in relation to the expectations for his or her grade level. Below are brief tutorials explaining more about what is meant by these measures. Also, two tutorials are provided explaining resources available to parents that are based on these measures. The Lexile measure can be used with the Find-A-Book tool to find books that are appropriate for a child's reading level and based on his or her interests. The Quantile measure can be used with the Math@Home tool to find resources that students can access at home for promoting their math growth.
