Instructional Audio Product
In my reading intervention class, each new article is introduced with 3 readings to facilitate student fluency and comprehension. The first read is an oral cloze reading. During this initial read, students follow along as I read the article aloud. When I pause while reading, students chorally insert the missing word. Students are assessed at the end of the unit on their ability to read the article independently and fluently. I've created this audio learning object that would be posted in my Google classroom for students to access for independent practice. Providing this resource will provide 3 benefits to my students:
1. Students who are absent or miss the lesson for any reason will be able to access this learning object on their own time. This will free up the time that I would normally spend with a student 1:1 to provide him or her with the necessary missed practice.
2. Students who need additional practice will have 24/7 access to the resource. This will increase the students use of self-directed learning and self-advocacy skills.
3. I would like to increase my use of blended learning. My goal is to routinely have students independently use this resource as an introduction to the article. This will allow me to more time to work on higher level skills with individual students and small groups.
